Scotland Beyond Net Zero (SBNZ) Website
Designed and developed the SBNZ initiative’s website - a collaboration between the University of Edinburgh and the University of Glasgow. The design aimed to position the initiative as a bold, research-driven force in accelerating Scotland’s transition beyond net zero, with a professional and future-focused digital presence.

The website was designed in Adobe XD, with visual assets created in Adobe Illustrator. I worked closely with sub-contracted developer
Ben Stones to manage the WordPress CMS build, and oversaw content upload and quality assurance across the site.
I designed and structured the Scotland Beyond Net Zero website to deliver a clear, engaging user experience and ensure complex research is accessible to public and academic audiences.
Information architecture: clear navigation and
logical page hierarchyBrand integration: applying visual identity consistently across all pages
User journeys: intuitive pathways for researchers, collaborators, and the public
Content categorisation: filtering by research themes and institutions
Readability: strong visual hierarchy for news, events, and research outputs
Scalability: flexible design system to support future growth and updates
Accessibility: considered typography, colour contrast, and responsive layouts
The website
Alongside designing the website, I built Scotland Beyond Net Zero’s visual identity from the ground up - establishing a clear visual voice and confident design style that anchors the brand. This foundation shaped the website, bringing the organisation to life ahead of its launch in January 2024.
The visual identity
I had the privilege of leading the design for this project from helping form the brief to project completion. The project involved collaboration between University institutions and merging branding to develop the high profile shared initiative.
