Clean Catch and Cefas Wildlife Identification Guide

Designed a 44-page printed Wildlife ID Guide to support fishermen in identifying accidental marine bycatch. Collaborated closely with the client and science and policy experts to ensure accuracy of information, incorporating clear layouts and illustrated diagrams where needed to enhance usability in real-world conditions.

The Wildlife ID Guide layout was a carefully crafted service journey: clear instructions upfront to orient users, strategically placed QR codes linking to Clean Catch online resources for extended support, and an integrated notes section at the rear for recording data. The design balances practical usability at sea with a considered journey between print, digital and legally required data recording.

This was an extensive body of work that required close collaboration with science professionals and marine experts to source imagery and correctly identify animal features. The guide is now distributed across UK fishing fleets to help fishermen correctly ID and report marine bycatch.
